Under år 2006 ligger Sverige på 12 plats i välståndsligan enligt OECD. På första plats befinner sig Luxemburg följt av Norge och USA. Turkiet ligger sist i välståndsligan och är därmed det fattigaste landet bland de 32 länder som finns med på listan. Invånarna i Luxemberg är mer än dubbelt så rika som svenskarna i genomsnitt.


Enligt statistik från OECD befinner sig Sverige på 12 plats i välståndsligan med en BNP per capita om 34 870 USD, motsvarande cirka 209 220 SEK vid nuvarande växelkurs mellan USD och SEK (2008-06-17; 6 SEK/USD). Luxemburg som har den ledande positionen i välståndsligan har en BNP per capita om 78 138 USD år 2006 vilket är mer än dubbelt upp mot BNP per capita i Sverige.

Sverige klarar sig bättre än snittet för EU:s 15 medlemsländer och OECD-länderna men har en lägre produktion per person än grannländerna Norge, Island och Danmark. Sverige som låg på 4 plats i välståndsligan år 1970 är idag längre ifrån första placeringen i välståndsligan.

Välståndsligan baseras på måttet BNP per capita omräknat till USD med köpkraftsjusteringen utifrån köpkraftsparitet (PPP) gentemot USA. BNP per capita är värdet av ett lands totala produktion dividerat med dess invånarantal.
