Statsskulden mindre än 1000 miljarder

För första gången sedan 1993 är Sveriges statsskuld mindre än 1000 miljarder. I slutet av maj uppgick statsskulden till cirka 995 miljarder kronor.


- En lägre skuldsättning minskar Sveriges utsatthet. Det ger en ökad trygghet i orostider eftersom en låg och stabil skuld är det bästa skyddet mot spekulation och höga räntekostnader, säger finansminister Anders Borg

Statsskulden krymper i snabb takt. De senaste två åren har den sjunkit med 225 miljarder kronor. Bara sedan januari har statsskulden minskat från 1115 miljarder kronor, vilket beror på stora överskott i statens betalningar under årets första fem månader. Enligt regeringens prognos beräknas statsskulden fortsätta sjunka ytterligare till 567 miljarder kronor i slutet av 2011.

Som procent av bruttonationalprodukten (BNP) har statsskulden sjunkit från ca 77 procent 1995 till 31 procent. Det är den lägsta statsskulden sedan 1978, då skuldkvoten var 30 procent.
