Nordiska krafttag mot sms-lån

Sms-lån skapar stora konsumentproblem i flera nordiska länder. Därför inleder nu de nordiska konsumentombudsmännen ett samarbete för att på ett effektivare sätt komma tillrätta med problemen.

Konsumentombudsmännen från Sverige, Norge, Danmark, Finland och Island träffades nyligen i Lillehammer i Norge. Under mötet diskuterades ett antal problem som är kopplade till sms-lån. Bland annat aggressiv marknadsföring, höga avgifter och bristfällig konsumentinformation. Problem som har lett till att många konsumenter har svårt att betala tillbaka sina lån.

Under 2007 fick Kronofogden in fler än 20 000 ansökningar om betalningsförelägganden som hade sms-lån som grund.

De nordiska konsumentombudsmännen är mycket bekymrade över utvecklingen och i de olika nordiska länderna har ett antal åtgärder mot dessa konsumentproblem satts igång.

För att få ännu mer kraft i arbetet inleds nu ett tätare nordiskt samarbete, bland annat genom:
  • gemensamt arbete i enskilda ärenden
  • utbyte av idéer
  • identifiering av lagändringar som kan behövas

    – Genom att vi agerar gemensamt i de nordiska länderna ökar våra möjligheter att komma tillrätta med problemen och att stärka konsumenternas ställning på den här problemfyllda marknaden, säger Gunnar Larsson, konsumentombudsman.
