Turbulens på interbankmarknaden i Europa men Svenska banker lånar till varandra

De senaste dagarna har det rått stor turbulens på de marknader där bankerna normalt lånar pengar för att finansiera sin verksamhet. Banker och investerare runt om i världen har varit ovilliga att låna ut pengar till banker. Detta har drabbat banker i såväl Europa som USA.


De fyra stora svenska bankerna – Handelsbanken, Nordea, SEB och Swedbank – fortsätter dock att låna pengar till varandra. Alla svenska storbanker har alltså idag möjlighet att låna pengar hos de andra bankerna.

Som Finansinspektionen beskrivit i en text den 18 september, har de fyra bankerna goda förutsättningar att klara den osäkerhet som för tillfället råder. Finansinspektionen är helt komfortabel med de kapitalbuffertar som bankerna håller mot oväntade förluster.
