Nu tillåtet konventera bensindrift till drift med etanol och biogas

I dag, 1 juli 2008, träder en lagändring i kraft som innebär att det blir tillåtet att konvertera bensin- och dieseldrivna personbilar till drift med alternativbränslen, såsom etanol och biogas.


- Det blir nu mycket enklare att efterkonvertera sin bil och därmed göra en insats för miljön. Dessutom säkerställer lagen att efterkonverteringen kontrolleras i enlighet med Vägverkets krav på så kallade konverteringssatser, säger miljöminister Andreas Carlgren.

En konverterad bil måste uppfylla de krav som följer av lagen (2001:1080) om motorfordons avgasrening och motorbränslen och de författningar som följer av denna lag. Detta inkluderar bland annat Vägverkets myndighetsföreskrifter.

För att bli godkänd ska bilen enligt lagen konverteras med hjälp av en så kallad konverteringssats som innefattar såväl emissionskrav, komponenter som installationsanvisningar. Om en bil som har ändrats med en konverteringssats inte uppfyller gällande avgasreningskrav är det tillverkarens skyldighet att åtgärda konverteringssatsen.
